Louise is a qualified therapist and a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She has a passion for helping parents through all the challenges that life may throw at them including: Anxiety, prenatal fears, postnatal depression, relationship issues, PTSD, depression, low self-esteem and low confidence. Louise trained as a humanistic therapist (Person-centred, gestalt and psychosynthesis), but also integrates her knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and mindfulness to be able to tailor her approach to your needs.
I’ve worked with numerous parents in schools, a children’s centre and through private practice across London and Kent. I’ve also worked with issues that new parents and couples face from conception to supporting parents with older children.
As a parent myself, I can empathise with the journey, experiences and situations that life can throw at us as human beings and hold no judgments.
I am passionate about my career and growth as a therapist and person – we are learning every day. When I am not working, you may find me undertaking continuing professional development (CPD) if I’m not exercising or with my family. I am currently working towards my MSc in Psychology.
I thrive on my passion for the therapeutic process, working with diversity and unconditional respect. I also know how our overall health is vital to wellbeing and have a passion in healthy eating, exercise, communication and purpose.
Before becoming a therapist, I had an extensive career working in creative arts and for an international media corporation liaising with people at all levels, interviewing and dealing with sensitive situations. My previous art qualification in conjunction with a Diploma in Performing Arts has also been a beneficial addition in creative therapy.
I work collaboratively with you to discover which way of working suits your current needs.
Within the confidential space, you can feel able to explore your difficulties in-depth and begin to increase your self-understanding in order to bring change through counselling.
I was trained as a humanistic counsellor. This means that I’m non-judgmental and the core of my practice is that I provide a friendly, down-to-earth and safe space. I provide empathy and unconditional acceptance. There are various humanistic theories I draw on.
I integrate knowledge of various other approaches to help reduce your psychological distress and enhance well-being. I’m able to bring in elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and mindfulness in a client-centred way.
What matters to me is the client-counsellor relationship; many studies show that the counselling relationship is a major factor in the client’s therapeutic growth.
I have experience working with people in recovery from addiction and also new parents before working in private practice.
I work with young people, adults, and older adults across a range of issues that arise in counselling.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues such as; anxiety, prenatal fears, postnatal depression, relationship issues, PTSD, depression, bariatric surgery, eating disorders, substance misuse and addiction, self-harm, low self-esteem and confidence. Also, sexual, psychological and physical abuse, flashbacks, trauma, dissociation, loss and bereavement and personality disorders.
